Talking Headshots, Marketing, and More on the Photography Adjacent Podcast
My Journey as a Professional Photographer from Prague to Brighton
Time flies by quickly. It’s hard to believe I was on the Photography Adjacent Podcast with London-based photographer Tom Trevatt a few months ago. As a professional specializing in headshot photography, I was honoured to share my knowledge with photographers from around the world.
For those who know me, stepping into the spotlight and talking about myself isn’t always my comfort zone. (I know some of you see me on Instagram in my videos, but I’m again pushing myself.) Let’s face it—I don’t know anyone who likes it. I’m a behind-the-camera person who loves to capture my clients, whether actors or professionals who need great headshots and portraits.
During the podcast, I shared the unconventional beginnings of my photography career. I was in a bar, and someone asked me what I did. I said, “I’m a photographer,” and I wasn’t—I just wanted to be. This moment changed everything for my career—I was now in the world of press photography. Who would have thought?!
Anyway, from there, I leveraged that experience. When I returned to the UK, I transitioned into wedding photography. Now, I’m full-on with headshots and branding photography. It was great chatting with Tom about my career, and I appreciated the opportunity to reflect on those memories.
It was also interesting to chat about marketing myself as a headshot photographer in Brighton, being so close to London. But, at the end of the day, while it has its challenges, I manage to keep clients coming to Brighton instead of going with someone in The Big Smoke.
Well, being on the Photography Adjacent Podcast was a fantastic experience that pushed me. It reminds me that growth often happens when we take on challenges and share our stories.
I’d love for you to watch the interview and glimpse my journey and thoughts on photography.
Thank you for joining me on this incredible journey. Together, let’s continue to push boundaries, defy expectations, and create timeless memories through the power of photography.
Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoy the interview as much as I enjoyed participating!
