Client Brand Photography: Building Relationships with Brighton-based Box Animation Studio
You know what? Moving to a new studio to help businesses create branding photography in brighton can be daunting, but sometimes, it takes to knock on a neighbour’s door to unlock incredible opportunities. That happened when I moved into my new studio near the Brighton Pavilion (11 Old Steine).
Capturing the Brand Vision of Brighton’s Box Animation Studio with Photography
It all started with a simple introduction that led to a rewarding project with Box Animation Studio—a creative powerhouse right upstairs from me. This is a story about brand photography in Brighton.
A Fortunate Introduction
When I first moved into my studio, someone advised me to focus on getting to know my neighbours. “Knowing your local businesses and spotlighting each other through creative work fosters a healthy business community,” they said. Taking this advice to heart, I mustered the courage to introduce myself to the Box Animation Studio team, which included Matthew Cooper, Graham Williams, and Ellis Muddle.
I said I had moved into my studio in Brighton and do headshots, and they all went, “What? We were just discussing headshots.” That initial conversation sparked something much bigger than either of us expected. They’d recently started rebranding and needed comprehensive photography for their website, social media, and promotional materials.
Capturing the Vision of Brighton’s Box Animation Studio
Working with Box Animation Studio wasn’t just about taking photos; it was about understanding their unique vibe, capturing their creative environment, and telling the story about their incredible talent and ability. As a corporate photographer in Brighton, I needed to reflect their dynamic and vibrant work in every shot. (Challenging task, right?!)
Understanding a brand is important; you need to talk to them about the vision, the vibe, the look and feel. I need to get into their heads for the shoot. What I always find helpful is that I also bring a fresh perspective—creating what they need but also what they may not have thought of in terms of branded assets.
We planned a full-day shoot, including headshots in my Brighton studio, candid shots in their workspace, and even some on-location photos around Brighton (local was essential to them and their brand). One interesting aspect was discovering the little quirks of their work environment, like animators using mirrors to study their movements—something that added a touch of authenticity to the photos. I mean, mirrors, who would have thought?! Aren’t creatives interesting? I’d love to be a fly on the wall in their workplace daily. I love seeing how their thought process and work take shape.
Delivering a Full Set of Images
By the end of the day, we had a comprehensive set of images that truly captured the spirit of Box Animation Studio. From lively headshots to candid shots of their creative process, the photos were full of personality and perfectly aligned with their brand.
I wanted very animated faces for this, not just because they’re an animation studio. So we talked and laughed a lot during the shoot. And you’ll see that the images that resulted are full of personality.
I delivered the photos through an online gallery organised for easy access. Each team member had a section for headshots, and there were additional sections for candid shots and environmental portraits. The gallery provided them with a wealth of content across their website, social media, and other marketing materials.
Building a Lasting Partnership
The project was a huge success. The team at Box Animation Studio was thrilled with the results. They have already left me an amazing review, which I’m very grateful for. Also, I hope they’ll keep me in mind for updated headshots in the future, a few more shots for content, and so on.
This experience reinforced the importance of local connections and understanding a client’s vision. It’s about being more than just a professional photographer in Brighton—it’s about being partners in each other’s journeys.
